Interim Data Governance Specialist / Consultant wanted! | 8-24 hours per week | South Holland region | 6 months + option to extend | Hybrid!

For a valued relation of Data-First, I am looking for an interim Data Governance Specialist / Consultant who will help further professionalise data governance within an international organisation with a maturing data environment.

The technical foundation is largely in place: work has been carried out on a data warehouse, modelling, reporting and a cloud-based data environment. The governance side now needs to be further refined. The assignment mainly focuses on analysis, advice and prioritisation: what has already been set up, what is still missing and which steps should be taken first to better embed data ownership, data domains, policies and governance processes within the organisation.

You will work together with a broad change and data team in which IT, security, product ownership, business analysis and data architecture come together, among others. The organisation is explicitly not looking for an operational builder or project manager who will fully manage an implementation process, but for a senior advisor who brings structure, helps make choices and transfers knowledge to existing team members.

The assignment would be flexible and the number of hours may vary per week, with an expected range between 8 and 24 hours. Naturally, this will be discussed to determine what fits. You are also expected to work on site 1 day per week.

Activities

  • Conducting a gap analysis in the area of data governance and data maturity.
  • Drawing up a concrete implementation plan or roadmap for the further development of data governance.
  • Advising on the transfer of data ownership from IT to the business.
  • Contributing ideas on data domains, data glossary and the refinement of existing data policies.
  • Providing input on governance issues relating to AVG/GDPR, AI Act and responsible data use.
  • Transferring knowledge to existing team members and acting as a senior sparring partner within the team

Dit ben jij

  • Experience with setting up, refining or implementing data governance in practice.
  • Experience with gap analyses, data maturity assessments and translating policies into a concrete roadmap.
  • Knowledge of DAMA-DMBOK is required, certification is not required.
  • Knowledge of AVG/GDPR, AI Act and current legislation is required.
  • Experience within financial institutions or similar data-sensitive environments is a plus.
  • Experience with Azure, Power BI or similar data environments is a plus.
  • Fluency in the English language is required;
